The Avalon Project at Yale
  This site offers online versions of numerous primary resources, including the Federalist Papers, the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration, the state constitutions at the time of the founding, the proceeding of the Annapolis Convention, Madison's notes of the Constitutional Convention, etc. It also includes many older historical documents, which influenced the development of the U.S. Constitution such as the Magna Carta and the English Bill of Rights.
 
Archiving Early America
  This site offers many interesting and varied resources including online biographies of some founders (e.g., Franklin, Washington, Jefferson); digitized maps of the 13 colonies; correspondence by some of the founders; images of many of the founders; short movies about historical figures and moments; an e-mail discussion group; and an online journal ("The Early American Review"); as well as online versions of key documents such as the Constitution, Declaration, etc.
 
Documents from the Continental Congress and the Constitutional Convention
  Includes 274 docuemtns relating to the work of the Continental Congress and the drafting and ratification of the Constitution. Part of the Library of Congress' American Memory Project.
 
The Constitution of the United States (National Archives and Records Administration)
  Provides a range of materials related to the U.S. Constitution, including high-resolution images of the original document and biographical sketches of all the signers of the Constitution.
 
The Washington Papers
  The complete papers of George Washington, linked to the Library of Congress.
 
· The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History
  This site appears to be still in the early stages of construction, but already offers many useful resources. Under the "hypertext history" link, one finds short biographical sketches of many of the founders, and short, clear introductory readings on topics such as the Revolution and the ratification of the Constitution. There is also a link leading to lesson plans, including one on teaching the Constitution. Under the reference desk link, there is a glossary of American history. The site also offers the opportunity for readers to pose a history question, which will receive a response from an expert.
 
The Records of the Federal Convention of 1787
  Reproduction of Max Farrand's work, published in 1911, which gathers the documentary records of the the Constitutional Convention. Part of the Library of Congress' American Memory Project.
 
A Century of Law Making For a New Nation
  Includes materials on the U. S. Congressional documents and debates between 1774 and 1873. Part of the Library of Congress' American Memory Project.
 
The Founders' Constitution
  Anthology of documents from the early 17th century through the 1830s, which are relevant to the study of the U.S. Constitution. Print edition was published in 1986.
 
Biographies of the Founding Fathers.
  Provides short biographies of the signers of the U.S. Constitution.
 
Biographical Dictionary
  Brief biographical data on "notable men and women who have shaped our world from ancient times to the present day."
 
Biography-Center
  The aim of this site is to "index all available biographies on the Web." Note that search results are, therefore, variable.
 
Distingquished Women of Past and Present
  This site provides links to biographical information, which is available on the Web and which pertains to women "who have contributed to our culture in many different ways."

  FindArticles.com is an archive of published articles that you can search for free. It contains articles dating back to 1998 from over 300 magazines and journals.
 
Ingenta
  Fee-based article access to materials on the social sciences, economics, business, the arts and humanities, technology, philosophy and linguistics. Must register for an account and make a credit card payment to view items.
 
Electric Library
  Fee-based access to "more than 150 full-text newspapers, hundreds and hundreds of full-text magazines, two international newswires, two thousand classic books, hundreds of maps, thousands of photographs, as well as major works of literature and art." Online Library of Liberty (Liberty Fund)
  "The aim of the OLL is to provide thousands of titles about individual liberty, limited constitutional government, and the free market, free of charge to the public for educational purposes."  The Library contains over 1000 classic works in economics, history, law, political theory, philosophy, religion and literature.
 
Liberty Library of Constitutional Classics
  Links to "classic books and other works on constitutional government" that shaped the Anglo-American understanding of republican government, law and jurisprudence. The Library is maintained by the Constitution Society.
 
Abraham Lincoln Documents
  A good place to explore some of Lincoln's major addresses. Includes speeches on the Missouri Compromise and Dred Scott decision, the "House Divided" and Cooper Institute speeches, Lincoln-Douglas Debates, Gettysburg and Second Inaugural Addresses. Part of the larger TeachingAmericanHistory.org Historical Documents Library project of the Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs.

  A collection of "thousands of pamphlets, booklets, and newspaper articles pertaining to the 'Origin, Settlement, and Progress of the Colonies of North America' from the revolutionary Era" assembled by 19th century printer, Peter Force. A digitization project of Northern Illinois University Libraries and Alan Kulikoff of the University of Georgia.
